Making babies is one of the most fun features in playing Sims 2. But as in real life, pregnancy and babies can be hard work. Luckily (and unlike real life!), there are cheats that can help the player along. Whether twins, surviving pregnancy, having an alien baby, or adoption of a baby (including by a same sex couple) is the goal, these tips should help.
How to get Use Cheats to Get a Baby or an Alien Baby in Sims 2
There are 3 places to try for a baby; in a double bed, clothing booth or hot tub. There is a 60% chance of conception in the bed, 50% chance in the clothing booth (public woohoo), and 25% in the hot tub. First choose "TRY FOR A BABY" and wait for the lullaby tune. If this does not play, the Sim is not pregnant. Just keep trying until she is.
Another method is to get up the cheat toolbar, by clicking Shift, Ctrl and C into the cheat bar, and typing [BOOLPROP TESTINGCHEATSENABLED TRUE] minus the brackets and capitals. Then shift click for the Sim to be impregnated. Various options appear, but select "SPAWN" and then "TOMBSTONE OF LIFE AND DEATH". Next click on the tombstone, then the option "MAKE ME PREGNANT WITH..." and choose the second parent. To speed up the pregnancy, simply click on the tombstone and select "SPEED UP MY PREGNANCY".
On the tombstone, it is also possible to click "MAKE ME ALIEN PREGNANT" which means the Sim's second parent is an alien. The child is most likely to be green skinned. (This works for both men and women.) To delete the tombstone go into buy mode, and sell it. The tombstone costs nothing, and is sold for nothing. Making an alien baby is also possible by other methods.
How to use Boolprop Cheats and Help a Pregnant Sim
An average Sim pregnancy lasts for 3 days.
Day One: About 24 Sim hours after the conception, the pregnant Sim gets a thought bubble with a picture of a babies dummy and a green question mark. She rushes to the nearest toilet and throws up. The game directs the player to this.
Day Two: The Sim will experience her first bump. Her clothes will change to maternity clothes, and her belly will be noticeably larger. The pregnant Sim's mood will deteriorate faster than normal. After the first bump, (if she has a job) the Sim gets paid maternity leave from work.
Day Three: The Sim will get her second bump. This bump is even more noticeable than the first. The pregnant Sim gets tired and hungry very quickly, so it is best to have another Sim cook and clean for her. The pregnant Sim's motives can also be dragged up higher using the boolprop cheats listed below. Sometime in day three, the Sim will give birth. The camera will bring this to the attention of the player, and the Sim will give birth to her child/children.
How to use Cheats to Get Twins in Sims 2
The chance of a Sim having twins is a slim 10%. The chances can be made much higher by following these tips:
Option One: Bring up the cheat toolbar. Into the toolbar type [FORCETWINS] minus brackets and capitals. When the Sim gives birth, she will have twins.
Option Two: If the expansion pack Sims 2 Open for Business is loaded, the Sim can become pregnant by eating a cheesecake made by a Sim with the maximised cooking skills. Soon after eating it she will be giving birth to twin babies!
A cheat to maximise Sim cooking skills: Pull up the cheat toolbar, enter [BOOLPROP TESTINGCHEATSENABLED TRUE] and then go onto the work tab, and click on the highest skill of cooking. The motives up can also be dragged up higher, if the pregnant Sim's mood swings are too much for the player to handle.
Adoption Including for Same Sex Couples Helps to Get a Baby in Sims 2
If a Sim couple of the same sex are hoping for a baby, this is what to do:
Find "ADOPTION" under "SERVICES" on the Sims phone. The household must have at least 3,000 simoleons to adopt. If it does not have 3,000 simoleons, bring up the cheat bar and type [MOTHERLODE] minus brackets and capitals, for an extra 50,000 simoleons onto the current balance, or type [KACHING] minus brackets and capitals into the toolbar to acquire an extra 1,000 simoleons. Once the budget is over 3,000 the Sims can adopt. The next day at 10am the social worker will arrive with a new baby.
For players who want their adopted Sim baby to look like its parents, here is what to do:
1. Make a family consisting of one or more adults, and make the baby with all the desired features. Their clothes and aspirations can also be chosen in advance.
2. Then have the parent either a) leave the child home alone or b) let the child’s motives for hunger, bladder, energy etc. reach the bottom of the bar. A social worker will arrive, lecture the adult Sim, and then take the child away.
3. Go back to the adopting family, and the child they adopt will be the last child taken by the social worker.
Cheats can make the game more fun. It is also fun to play without cheats sometimes, as this provides a higher level of challenge in gameplay. Whatever the reason for using the cheats, have fun and enjoy playing Sims 2!
